Back Alley

Back alley of a Chinese restaurant on the newest day of the year
The sun ebbed amethyst refracting my oldest fears
And in the Dionysian night before at a party all alone
From a gilded high-rise I watched fireworks purge the year Id known
And sinking down those clouded streets in canyons of steel cold glass
The neon lights paled off the eyes of the vernal ones I passed
And though the snow was stained with soot the number was anew
In dawn's light an ambered blue jay passed me flew
Fell asleep I dreamt a plea of holy Shangri-La
Awoke the same a gaunt frame with all my forlorn flaws
Is the New Year new anymore?
We've seen this film before
Is the New Year new anymore?
We've seen this film before
And now I stand trash bag in hand englowed by the sunset
And like the snow I watch the flow of lives hallowed with regret
Plumes of white haze dying light as north birds fly
I hear the yell from the bell inside the restaurant door
I dont want to start, I dont want to start anymore, I dont want to start
I dont want to start, I dont want to start anymore, I dont want to start

Wild Mountain Thyme

Oh, the summer time is coming,
And the trees are sweetly blooming,
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, will you go?
And we'll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather,
Will you go, lassie, go?
I will build my love a tower
By yon clear and crystal fountain,
And all around the bower,
I'll pile flowers from the mountain.
Will you go, lassie, will you go?
If my true love, she won't have me,
I will surely find another
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, will you go?
Oh, the summertime is coming
And the trees are blooming
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, will you go?
